Bethany Water Supply Drill

On October 28th, 2007, the Woodbridge Fire Department participated in a water supply drill conducted by the Bethany Fire Department. Since the Woodbridge and Bethany Fire Departments are mutual aid partners, this exercise was important for both departments. The objective of the drill was to be able to maintan a flow of 2000 GPM at two dump sites for a period of two hours. Each dump site drafted water out of three ponds and flowed approximately 1000 GPM. Two fill sites for tankers were running also, both utilizing static water sources. Woodbridge Engine 3 drafted and pumped at one of the dump sites. Woodbridge Engine 7 and Tanker 8 shuttled water back and forth between the fill sites and the dump sites. This was truely a regional drill since over 100 firefighters from nine towns participated.

Fire Prevention Month

During the month of October, Fire Marshal Michael Cavanagh and members of the Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Association conducted fire prevention training for over 750 children of various ages at numerous locations within the Town of Woodbridge. Information on procedures to follow during a fire emergency and equipment demonstrations are provided to the children.
